TL;DR: PrivWrite collects zero data. Our connect-src: none Content Security Policy makes it technically impossible for the extension to make any network requests. Your text never leaves your device.

Data We Collect

None. PrivWrite does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal data, usage data, or content data on any server.

Your Text and Content

Any text you check with PrivWrite is processed entirely on your device using your browser's built-in AI or local grammar rules. It is never sent to any server — not ours, not anyone's. This is enforced by our connect-src: none Content Security Policy, which is a browser-level technical restriction, not a software promise.

Local Storage

PrivWrite stores the following data in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local), which never leaves your device:

Daily check count (to enforce the free tier limit)
Pro license key (if you have one)
Custom dictionary words (Pro feature)

You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage.

Third Parties

PrivWrite does not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking services. There are no third-party scripts in the extension.

Permissions Explained

contextMenus — Required to add "Check Grammar with PrivWrite" to the right-click menu
storage — Required to save your daily count and settings locally
activeTab — Required to inject the grammar suggestion overlay on the current tab when you request a check

We do not use <all_urls> host permissions. PrivWrite only activates when you explicitly right-click and choose to check grammar.
