Questions
FAQ
Does PixelShield actually prevent tracking?
Partially. Gmail proxies all email images through Google's servers, so the sender knows the email was delivered. PixelShield removes tracking pixel markup from your browser view and blocks direct tracking domains via Chrome's declarativeNetRequest API. We're honest about this — we show you who's tracking you, which is often more valuable than just blocking.
Can PixelShield read my emails?
PixelShield's Content Security Policy includes connect-src: none — this physically prevents the extension from making ANY network requests. Your emails cannot leave your browser. This is enforced by Chrome, not by our promises.
Why is PixelBlock / Ugly Email broken?
Google removed Manifest V2 extensions in Chrome 139 (July 2025). Both PixelBlock and Ugly Email relied on deprecated MV2 APIs and were removed. PixelShield was built MV3-native from day one.
Will PixelShield be sold or change ownership?
Never. PixelShield is a single-owner indie product. We earn from Pro subscriptions only. We will never sell user data, sell the extension, or allow ownership transfer to another party.
Does it work with Google Workspace?
Yes — PixelShield works on any Google account using Gmail at mail.google.com, including Workspace (G Suite) accounts.
What data does PixelShield store?
Only tracker counts and blocked pixel counts — stored locally in Chrome storage on your device. Sender email addresses are stored locally for the Tracker Insights feature. Nothing is ever transmitted. You can export or delete all data from the settings page.
